About York Neighbours

York Neighbours is a volunteer-led charity supporting over 65s to maintain independence and happiness at home, stay socially connected, and still feel part a community outside of their four-walls. We do this through a “kindness meets organised neighbourliness” manifesting in three main ways:

- Help with one-off tasks and errands
- Regular “keeping company” calls
- Social outings

Now with over 550 registered across all of York, the numbers of “Neighbours” we serve has increased, year on year, since our formation in 2015. Due to our city’s aging local population we expect this to continue.
